1983: Home Bible Study

Picture
Shiawassee Harvest Church was founded in 1983 by Pastors Rick and Rena Story. In 2025, they celebrated 55 years of marriage and more than 45 years of faithful ministry. In January 2018, they also marked the 35th anniversary of founding SHC.
Over the years, they watched their five children grow, graduate from college, and start families of their own. Today, they are blessed with 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The Story family has devoted their lives to raising their children and their church family to seek and glorify God.
Sadly, our founding pastor, Rick Story, passed away in September 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication that continues to shape Shiawassee Harvest Church today.

1987: Purchased the Moose Lodge on Parmenter Rd. in Corunna, MI

From the small bible study in their home in 1983, God took them to Corunna, MI where the church purchased the moose lodge. They renovated the entire building to make room for growth. Children classrooms were made, a new sanctuary built and a basement remodeled for the youth group came to fruition. Church services began and over the next 7 years the church began to grow.

1994: New Building Project

In 1994, the next step in God's vision for S.H.C. began. This time, it was to purchase land and to begin a new building program. The property is located on the corner of M-71 and Dutcher St in Corunna. The property sits on several acres. They built on more classrooms, a larger sanctuary and a larger youth group room.

Founding Pastor, Rick Story

Pastor Rick lived a life that showed the way,
Not by his own strength, but the Spirit each day.

Through joy and trial, through calm and storm,
He trusted the Spirit his path to form.

Now his race is finished, his labor is done,
And he hears the words, “Well done, faithful one.”

But his life still speaks to hearts today,
To walk with the Lord and not drift away.

2026: The Future

Our church and Pastor Steve share a deep desire to reach more people than ever before, helping them discover that faith is not about religion or rules, but about a genuine relationship with God.

Our Vision: To reach Corunna, Shiawassee County, and beyond with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ, inspiring and equipping people to know God more deeply and walk in His power.

Statement of Purpose: To be Servant Hearted, Service Minded.
