What about those who have never heard about Jesus? Will they go to Heaven or Hell, when they die?

​What About Those Who Have Never Heard About Jesus? 

​This is a thoughtful and often emotional question. Many people ask it when they are wrestling with grief, loss, or deep concern for others. Scripture reminds us first of something very important:

God’s heart is for people to be saved.
1 Timothy 2:3–4 tells us that God “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” God’s desire is not condemnation, but redemption.

God’s Heart for Children
When we think about newborns or young children who pass away, the Bible gives us a comforting picture of how Jesus feels about them.
Matthew 19:14
“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

In Mark 10:14–16, Jesus welcomes children, takes them in His arms, and blesses them. Scripture consistently reveals that children are deeply precious to God. In fact, Jesus even taught that we must approach God with childlike faith.
Because babies and very young children cannot yet understand right and wrong, many believers trust in the mercy and goodness of God when it comes to their eternity. The Bible repeatedly shows us that God is just, compassionate, and loving.

What About People Who Have Never Heard the Gospel?
The Bible teaches that God reveals Himself in multiple ways.
Paul explains in Acts 17:24–27 that God created the world and placed people in every nation so that they might seek Him and reach out for Him.
In other words, God is not far from any one of us.
Scripture also speaks of what theologians call general revelation. Through creation and through the human conscience, people are given awareness that God exists.
Romans 1:20 says that God’s invisible qualities can be seen through what He has made.
Romans 2:15 explains that God has written a moral awareness on the human heart.
This means that even people who have never heard the full message of the Gospel still have evidence of God and a sense of moral responsibility placed within them.

The Case of Cornelius
The Bible gives us a powerful example of this in Acts 10 through the story of a man named Cornelius.
Cornelius was a Roman centurion who feared God, prayed regularly, and gave generously to those in need. He sincerely desired to know the truth about God, yet he had not heard the full message of Jesus Christ.
God saw his heart.
Because of Cornelius’s sincere search for Him, God arranged for the Apostle Peter to come and share the Gospel with him. When Peter preached about Jesus, Cornelius and his household believed and received salvation.
This story shows something very important: God is able to reach people who are sincerely seeking Him.

Why Evangelism and Missions Matter
Even though God can reveal Himself in many ways, the Bible clearly teaches that the message of Christ must be shared.
2 Peter 3:9 reminds us of God’s heart:
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Because of this, Christians are called to share the message of Jesus
